FLOSSMOOR SCHOOL DISTRICT 161 SCHOOLS EARN HIGH RATINGS ON ILLINOIS REPORT CARD
Flossmoor School District 161’s state ratings continue to trend upward with two of its five schools being named in the top 10-percent in the state. Heather Hill Elementary School and Western Avenue Elementary School both received “Exemplary” summative designations on the annual Illinois State Report Card, earning exclusive status as top Illinois schools.
In addition to earning exemplary status for the two schools, District 161’s remaining schools all earned “Commendable” ratings. According to the state data, a commendable rating or higher indicates that there are no underperforming student groups indicated. This year’s report card reveals that students across District 161 are demonstrating growth and proficiency at an increasing rate.

Homewood- Flossmoor HS
Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School serves nearly 3,000 students and is located in the Cook County suburb of Flossmoor, IL, approximately 25 miles south of downtown Chicago. The district encompasses nearly 11.5 square miles, drawing students from the communities of Homewood, Flossmoor, Chicago Heights, Glenwood, Hazel Crest and Olympia Fields.

The mission of School District 161 is to work to create a strong community of young learners in an environment that is safe, diverse, and challenging for all students. In partnership with our community of stakeholders, our mission is to provide critical thinking skills as a necessary set of tools to help prepare students for high school, college and beyond.
