Our Culture

What makes us unique is that we appreciate that everyone is unique.

The town’s community celebrations echo the inclusive feeling of belonging. The Lighthouse LGBTQ+ Pride Party is a fine example. The event started by Valerie Litchfield and Stephanie Wright was expected to draw a little over 50 people in its inaugural year (2017) yet over 300 showed. The event returned this past summer in connection with Chicago’s Pride Week and expanded with a poster making booth and a neighborhood potluck dinner.
